MARINA COPRA SHED Welcome to the Copra Shed Marina in Savusavu, Fiji Islands. We hope that your stay here will be a pleasant one and the staff of the Copra Shed will do their utmost to make it so. In the interests of good health, the Copra Shed is a ‘No Smoking’ area except for the Savusavu Yacht Club. Port Clearance The first task is to clear in with the Quarantine/ Health/ Immigration and Customs officials. These have already been alerted to your arrival and the necessary clearance forms have been handed to you for completion. YOU MUST NOT COME ASHORE UNTIL PERMITTED TO DO SO BY THE OFFICIALS. The officials are only available between 8 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday. Overtime charges are payable at all other times and on public holidays. A clearance fee of F$10.00 is payable to the Copra Shed. A quarantine fee of F$33.75 is charged and must be paid at the local hospital. Cruising Permit A Cruising Permit is necessary for cruising in Fiji waters and this can be arranged by the Copra Shed Manager, Rachael. A fee of F$5.00 is charged. Marina Fees The fees for use of the Copra Shed services are as follows. The fees include use of dinghy dock, showers, toilets, garbage disposal, potable water (containers only), mail pick up and forwarding (Fiji only) and Weather Fax daily. ALL garbage must be placed in plastic bags. The Toilets & Showers are normally kept locked. A key can be obtained from the office on payment of F$10.00 deposit. Mail sent to the Copra Shed mailbox can be collected in the office. The Copra Shed, in addition to the usual mooring and berthing facilities of the marina, is home to the following business ventures. The Captains Café – specialising in Pizza but also catering for other tastes. The Cruisers – only Japanese restaurant in Savusavu. Air Fiji – a domestic airline operating services between Savusavu and Taveuni, Suva and Nadi. Also international bookings. SunAir – a domestic airline operating services between Savusavu and Taveuni and Nadi. Also international bookings. Tradewinds Marine – ships chandlers. Trip N Tour – local tours and local and international travel plus rental cars. Savusavu Real Estate – handling the sale and purchase of local real estate and offering an Internet service as well as secretarial services. Tako Handicrafts – selling a variety of local handicrafts. The Art Gallery – offering for sale the work of local artists and souvenirs. The Savusavu Yacht Club – home of the Savusavu optimist sailors and also provider of liquid refreshment. Overseas visitors can become temporary members of the club on payment of a small fee. Laundry – a full laundry and drying service is available. Savusavu Wines & Spirits – Offering a wide range of beer, wines & spirits and associated goods. SERVICES IN SAVUSAVU -Banks. There are 3 banks in town, Westpac, ANZ and Colonial National. All accommodate foreign exchange transactions and Westpac and ANZ accommodate credit card cash withdrawals, both over the counter and from ATM’s. -Engineering/mechanical/ refrigeration services are limited. Ask prices first. Simple tasks only. -Morris Hedstrom have most western type supermarket goods and sell liquor at both their stores. -The Local Market has fantastic vegetables and seafood. Best day is Saturday. -Pharmacy items are available at Dayaram who take orders for a drugstore in Labasa. Orders usually arrive the next day. It's surprising what you can order. -Fishing gear at Chhaganlal's. They also have other goods. -Real Estate. Call Pettine Simpson on 8850929. There is a lot of freehold land in the area. -Propane. It's mostly butane.Take a taxi to "FIJI GAS" three km's east of town for gas refills. Don't go at lunch time. Costs around $2 per kilo. Taxi fare around $4. Call on 8850437. They have adaptors to fit most bottles. -There is a good auto electrician in town. His name is Pillay and his shop is marked on the town plan at the CSM. He will come to the boat. Electrician, not electronics. -Fumigation. V1 Rocket Engine Fogger. Light fog pentrates all spaces. Great for cockroach eradication. Uses lateset technology from N.Z. Call 8850694. RESTAURANTS in Savusavu (All the restaurants in town are worth a try.) -Bula Re is almost opposite the Post Office. It features Chinese, European, Fijian dishes and has a liquor license. -Maria Bici's tea rooms opposite the Hot bread shop is a favourite, mostly curries. -The Hot Springs Hotel has a good restaurant.
